Jimny concepts at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon

Suzuki has probably pre-empted numerous aftermarket modifiers and customisers by creating a couple of Jimny-based concepts.

The more dramatic of the pair is the Jimny Sierra Pick Up Style. As that name suggests, it features a small open load space plus a two-seat cab. A retro front grille, four bar-mounted spotlights and some opinion-dividing wood-effect body trim are among the cosmetic additions.

By contrast, the Jimny Survive is designed to withstand extreme conditions. Distinguished by tubular bumpers and an external roll cage, this conversion also boasts a front winch, off-road tyres, sand ladders and extra protection underneath.

Both vehicles are due to appear in public for the first time at next month’s Tokyo Auto Salon.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
