UK prices for the 2020 8 Series Gran Coupé

BMW has added another body style to its 8 Series range. The four-door Gran Coupé – which is due to arrive at dealers in September 2019 – joins the existing Coupé and Convertible versions.

An extra pair of doors isn’t the Gran Coupé’s only unique facet. In fact, the structure from the firewall back is entirely different, as evidenced by some increased dimensions. Compared to the two-door Coupé, the wheelbase has been stretched by 201 mm (8”) to 3,023 mm (9’ 11”), while overall length is up from 4,851 mm (15’ 11”) to 5,082 mm (16’ 8”).

The front and rear screen angles are slightly steeper too, which is necessary because the roof lies 61 mm (2”) higher at 1,407 mm (4’ 7”). Consequently, there’s more interior space and practicality shouldn’t be too bad. For instance, the rear bench incorporates a 40:20:40 split folding mechanism, as well as a third central seat (for very occasional use only). Boot capacity is 440 litres.

At launch, three variants are going to be available in the UK. An even higher-performance M8 Gran Coupé is expected to arrive at a later date.
