Challenger Rallye Redline

Dodge has unveiled the special edition Challenger Rallye Redline.

Based on the 2012 Challenger SXT Plus, it features bonnet scoops, a rear boot spoiler and new 20” Pitch Black wheels shod with P245/45R20 Firestone Firehawk all-season performance tyres.

Paintwork choice is Pitch Black, Bright Silver Metallic, Tungsten Metallic or Bright White, all of which are complemented by the ‘Redline Red’ stripes that run the length of the car. For the interior, buyers can opt for either Dark Slate Gray or Radar Red leather upholstery.

Despite the sporty appearance, the Challenger Rallye Redline doesn’t come with a Hemi V8. Instead, it makes do with the slightly more efficient 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 which produces 305 bhp (227 kW / 309 PS) and 363 Nm (268 lb/ft) of torque.

Those outputs aren’t exactly lacking then, but to make sure acceleration is quicker than the standard version, Dodge has elected to fit the 3.06:1 rear axle ratio in place of the usual 2.65:1 item. The braking system has also been upgraded, with larger, ventilated discs all-round and dual-piston calipers up front.

For enhanced handling, the Super Sport Group equipment package is included as standard. This comprises thicker anti-roll bars front and rear, stiffer dampers and a more responsive steering rack.

Sales of the Challenger Rallye Redline begin this April. Its Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price in the United States is $28,745, plus a $925 destination charge.
