Toyota GT86 UK specs

Toyota is keeping things simple with its new 2+2 coupé, the GT86.

Just one trim level will be offered, and for now the only engine available is a 197 bhp (147 kW / 200 PS) 2.0 litre boxer unit that drives the rear wheels. The main thing that buyers are going to have to decide is whether to go for a manual or automatic six-speed transmission.

The exterior specification includes a limited slip differential, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, a rear spoiler, 17” alloy wheels and electric folding door mirrors.

Moving inside the cabin, seven airbags, air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and cruise control all come as standard. The seats are upholstered in black cloth, with leather and Alcantara trim available as an optional extra.

Pricing for the GT86 has been set at £24,995, with the automatic version costing £1,500 more.

That puts the Toyota on a par with competitors such as the £24,970 Volkswagen Scirocco GT 2.0 TSI, the £25,650 BMW 120i M Sport Coupé and the £25,945 Peugeot RCZ GT THP200.

Order books for the GT86 are now open at Toyota’s UK dealers, ahead of the first customer deliveries which are due at the beginning of July.
