2013 Suzuki Jimny revealed

It might be a surprise to learn that the Suzuki Jimny is still available to buy new. But the aging mini-SUV, which was first produced in 1998, keeps on going and as a fifteenth birthday present it’s getting a facelift.

The exterior alterations are concentrated on the front end, which now features a central air intake on the bonnet, a new grille and a restyled bumper that incidentally increases the overall length a tad to 3,675 mm (12’ 1”).

On the inside, the only significant updates are a new design for the head restraints and the standard fitment of ISOFIX child seat mountings in the rear.

For the UK, the sole engine option remains a 1.3 litre petrol that develops 83 bhp (63 kW / 85 PS) and 110 Nm (81 lb/ft) of torque. It comes connected to a five-speed manual gearbox with high and low ratios and an on-demand all-wheel drive system.

Prices are unchanged and start at £11,995 for the SZ3 trim grade. For those wanting more equipment the alternative is the SZ4, which adds 15” alloy wheels, air conditioning, rear privacy glass and synthetic leather and cloth upholstery. It costs £12,900, or £13,800 with a four-speed automatic transmission.
