2014 Škoda Superb revealed

Škoda has given its flagship model a facelift. The updated Superb, which will be unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month, features refreshed styling and more efficient engines.

The totally redesigned front end adopts the new Škoda family look as already seen on the Rapid and Octavia. It’s a similar story at the rear, where both the hatchback and estate get LED light clusters and modified tailgates.

In pursuit of reduced fuel consumption figures, all diesel-powered variants (as well as 1.4 litre TSI petrol models) now feature kinetic energy recuperation and stop-start systems. Škoda says the result is savings of up to 19%, and it’s claimed the GreenLine version will achieve an average of 67.3 mpg (4.2 l/100km) while emitting 109 g/km of carbon dioxide.

Available equipment includes an upgraded park assist function that can handle both parallel and reverse parking, keyless entry and hill hold control.

European sales of the 2014 Škoda Superb are due to begin at the end of June 2013. UK prices and specifications have yet to be confirmed.
