2013 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racer
This weekend’s Formula One Spanish Grand Prix, which takes place at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona, plays host to the inaugural round of the 2013 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
The event also marks the debut of the all-new 911 GT3 Cup racer. Based on the latest type 991 model, it features rear-wheel drive and a 3.8 litre engine just like the road-going GT3, plus numerous pieces of safety equipment and an enhanced aero package.
In the revival of a familiar partnership, the Porsche-entered VIP car is going to be wearing a striped Martini Racing livery. Guest driving it in Spain will be nine-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb, fresh from his recent Rally Argentina win. The Frenchman is also due to appear at the second round in Monaco later this month.
A full grid is promised for the Supercup, as 26 drivers representing eleven teams have signed up for the series. The season consists of eight races, all of which are on the support billings for Grands Prix.
