SLS AMG ED sets Nordschleife record
A Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive has become the first electric-powered production car to complete a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than eight minutes.
The actual time logged around the 12.9 mile (20.8 kilometre) circuit was an impressive 7' 56.234". However, one stat that AMG hasn’t revealed is how much battery range remained after the attempt.
Sales of the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive, which features four electric motors and a permanent all-wheel drive system, are due to begin later this month. A UK price has still to be confirmed, but in Germany it’ll cost €416,500 (including VAT).
