Citroën creates the DS 5LS R concept

Citroën’s DS sub-brand has unveiled the 5LS R concept, which previews a sporty version of the model that’s available exclusively in China.

Despite only having a 1.6 litre petrol engine, a turbocharger lifts power to 295 bhp (220 kW / 300 PS) and peak torque is a considerable 400 Nm (295 lb/ft). Performance figures haven’t been released, though.

Also part of the makeover is a sequential transmission that’s controlled via steering wheel-mounted paddles. Furthermore, the suspension has been lowered, the front track is wider and 20” wheels are fitted.

On the inside there’s a luxury ambience courtesy of leather and Alcantara upholstery that even extends to covering the dashboard. Completing the upgrades are numerous carbon fibre trim pieces.

The DS 5LS R concept will make its public debut at the Beijing Motor Show later this month.
