Yamaha launches the 2014 Majesty S scooter

Yamaha is adding another 125 cc scooter to its UK range. This latest one, called the Majesty S, is claimed to offer a combination of good performance, practicality and decent handling.

Power comes from a four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine that’s joined to a V-belt continuously variable transmission. Thanks to a four-valve cylinder head and fuel injection, it produces 11.8 bhp (8.8 kW / 12.0 PS) with a peak torque figure of 11.6 Nm (8.6 lb/ft).

The Majesty S arguably needs that kind of output though, because ready to ride it weighs 148 kg (326 lbs). By comparison, the very similar Yamaha Cygnus X tips the scales at 120 kg (265 lbs). At 795 mm (31.3”) the seat on the Majesty S is a tad higher too, which is something else that could put off novices.

In its favour, the new arrival is fairly well equipped. Wave disc brakes and five-spoke alloy wheels are fitted front and rear, while the rear monoshock suspension unit incorporates a horizontally-mounted damper to reduce the scooter’s centre of gravity. An LED rear light, a cargo hook and storage compartments in the fairing and beneath the seat are also included in the specification.

A price for the 2014 Majesty S has yet to be announced.
