Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution III unveiled

This year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will once more see Mitsubishi competing in the electric car class.

After two unsuccessful attempts, the Japanese brand must now be getting desperate for a win. So, to maximise its chances, the MiEV Evolution III has been specially developed for the 2014 event.

While the new MiEV’s general layout, all-wheel drive system and four electric motors are similar to 2013’s Evolution II, there have been some significant updates.

Chief among them is an increase in total output from 536 bhp (400 kW / 544 PS) to 603 bhp (450 kW / 612 PS). To complement that extra power the chassis is lighter, the tyres are larger and the comprehensively revised aerodynamics promise additional downforce.

Mitsubishi has again decided to enter a two-car team with an unchanged driver line-up of Hiroshi Masuoka and Greg Tracy. The 2014 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb runs from the 23rd to the 29th of June.
