2015 Kawasaki Z300 first view

Kawasaki’s new Z300, which has just been unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan, is basically a naked version of the Ninja 300.

Both bikes have a 296 cc parallel-twin engine that sits within a steel frame and produces 38 bhp (29 kW / 39 PS). The Z300 might accelerate marginally quicker though, as its lack of bodywork has reduced wet weight by 4 kg (9 lbs) to 170 kg (375 lbs).

Unique to the Z300 is a flatter, wider handlebar that gives a more upright and relaxed riding position. Radiator shrouds and a distinctive headlight cowl meanwhile offer visual links to the larger Z800.

Kawasaki has still to confirm a UK price for the Z300, but expect it to cost slightly less than the £5,199 Ninja 300.
