2016 Cadillac CT6 PHEV confirmed

Cadillac has announced that its upcoming CT6 flagship will be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The rear-wheel drive system comprises a turbocharged 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine, two electric motors and an electric variable transmission. Total output is estimated to be 335 bhp (250 kW / 340 PS) with 586 Nm (432 lb/ft) of torque.

Also part of the specification is a 192-cell, 18.4 kWh, lithium-ion battery pack which is housed between the rear seats and the luggage compartment. Plug-in recharging times haven’t been disclosed, but it will be possible via either 120 V or 240 V sockets. The pure electric mode range remains a mystery for now, too.

Average fuel consumption is another important figure that has yet to be released. However, when compared to a regular CT6, Cadillac reckons the hybrid’s economy should be twice as good.
