Mazda BT-50 refreshed for 2016

As facelifts go, the one being applied to the Mazda BT-50 is extremely subtle.

Styling changes are limited to new lights front and rear, a redesigned grille and some different wheels. A choice of three cab types remains.

Inside, Mazda is claiming a higher level of refinement for its Thai-built pick-up. One notable addition to the available equipment list is a rear-view reversing camera.

Mechanically things are entirely unaltered, which means the engine line-up still comprises a couple of turbocharged diesel units. The 2.2 litre four-cylinder option produces 147 bhp (110 kW / 150 PS), while the more powerful 3.2 litre five-cylinder alternative boasts 197 bhp (147 kW / 200 PS).

Sales of the 2016 BT-50 are scheduled to begin later this year. Australia and Thailand will be the first markets to receive it.
