Subaru prepares to break its TT Course record

Subaru and Prodrive are reuniting, but their latest collaboration has nothing to do with rallying.

Rather, it's an attempt to break the Isle of Man TT Course record that was set in 2014 by Mark Higgins driving a near-standard WRX STI. Then, his time for the 37.73 mile (60.72 kilometre) lap was 19 minutes and 15.88 seconds, which equates to an average speed of 117.510 mph (189.114 km/h).

The 2016 bid is being run by Subaru of America with input from Subaru Tecnica International. Once again Higgins will be behind the wheel, however this time Prodrive has been commissioned to design and build a specially-modified WRX STI.

Technical details and the car's performance potential have yet to be revealed, though.
