Special Ford 'Ole Yeller' Mustang unveiled

Ford has created its ninth unique aviation-themed Mustang. This latest iteration is a tribute to a North American P-51D Mustang named 'Ole Yeller', which has been a regular sight at air shows and the Reno National Championship Air Races for many years.

The road-going 'Ole Yeller' Mustang is based on a Shelby GT350. As well as a one-off yellow and black colour scheme, the car's specification includes double-spoke wheels, a prominent rear wing, custom Recaro seats, aircraft-inspired gauges and bespoke door-sill plates.

Unchanged is the normally-aspirated 5.2 litre V8 engine, which delivers 526 bhp (392 kW / 533 PS) and 581 Nm (429 lb/ft) of torque via a Tremec six-speed manual transmission.

Like its predecessors, 'Ole Yeller' will be auctioned to raise money for the Experimental Aircraft Association's youth education programmes. The sale is due to take place at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 on the 28th of July.
