A new livery for the BMW 2002 Hommage
For this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, BMW has given its 2002 Hommage a fresh colour scheme.
Striking orange and black paintwork recalls the Jägermeister-sponsored BMW racing saloons that were a common sight during the 1970s and 1980s. However, current sensibilities about linking alcoholic beverages to driving (or a reluctance to provide free advertising) mean the car wears contrived 'Turbomeister' logos.
BMW first presented the 2002 Hommage at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este back in May. As a modern interpretation of the original 2002, its retro styling features include a forward-leaning 'shark nose' front end, widened wheel arches and an unbroken 'waterline' that runs along the flanks.
Among the other distinctive elements are two single headlights, a rear carbon fibre diffuser and a set of 20” lightweight multi-spoke alloy wheels.
