2017 Shelby FP350S race car launched

Ford Performance has revealed its latest factory-prepared customer race car. The Shelby FP350S, which isn't street legal, will be eligible to compete in NASA, SCCA and Trans Am championships.

Built around a stronger seam-welded Mustang bodyshell, the enhanced specification includes a front splitter, an adjustable carbon fibre rear wing, an FIA-compliant roll cage and a Sparco seat.

Power is provided by a tuned 5.2 litre V8 engine that benefits from a race exhaust and a more effective oil cooler. Ford hasn't disclosed an output figure, but the transmission comprises a Tremec 3160 manual gearbox and a 3:73 final drive ratio.

The chassis has received attention, too. Among the upgrades are better brakes, a recalibrated electric steering system and a set of 19” wheels.
