Peugeot launches the 208 Black Edition

Given it’s available with a choice of Nera Black, Hurricane Grey or Bianca White paintwork, the new 208 Black Edition is somewhat misnamed.

However, Peugeot could argue that the grille, front fog light surrounds, door mirror caps and 16” ‘Titane’ alloy wheels all have a gloss black finish. In fairness, plenty of manufacturers would deem such minor changes reason enough to recycle the over-used ‘Black Edition’ moniker.

Cruise control, a DAB radio and a 7” colour touchscreen are also part of the car’s enhanced specification. Connectivity shouldn’t be a problem, as the infotainment system supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and Bluetooth.

The 208 Black Edition is being offered in three-door form only. Power comes from an 80 bhp (60 kW / 82 PS) 1.2 litre PureTech petrol engine, which is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Prices in the UK start at £14,595.
