2019 World Car Awards finalists

After an initial ballot, eighty-six jurors – all of them motoring journalists from around the globe – have decided the finalists for 2019’s World Car, World Luxury Car, World Performance Car, World Urban Car and World Green Car awards.

However, the process to determine the World Car Design of the Year contenders was different. A panel of seven design experts, which included luminaries such as Patrick le Quément and Gordon Murray, chose the five nominees instead.

As can be seen from the lists below, some models make multiple appearances. In particular, the Jaguar I-Pace and the Suzuki Jimny are both competing in three categories.

Another round of voting is now going to take place. Once the results from that have been tallied, the top three finalists for each prize are due to be announced on the 5th of March at the Geneva International Motor Show.

The six winners will then be declared on the 17th of April at the New York International Auto Show.
