Toyota GR Supra GT4 Concept unveiled
Toyota Gazoo Racing has developed a competition version of the all-new fifth-generation Supra. Built to comply with the increasingly popular GT4 technical regulations, it’s primarily aimed at customer teams. However, the project’s future really depends on public reaction, hence the ‘concept’ tag.
Compared to a street-legal GR Supra, visible differences include a prominent front splitter, 18” OZ wheels and a high-mounted rear wing. Inside, there’s a single OMP seat and, of course, a full roll cage.
The 3.0 litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged engine and eight-speed automatic transmission are retained, albeit with a bespoke motorsport ECU and an upgraded limited-slip differential. Output and torque figures haven’t been disclosed by Toyota, though.
Understandably, plenty of attention was given to the chassis. While the basic suspension layout is carried over, the springs, dampers and anti-roll bars are all modified. A stronger Brembo braking set-up completes the changes.
The GR Supra GT4 Concept will be appearing in public for the first time at next week’s 2019 Geneva International Motor Show.
