Abarth introduces the 695 70th Anniversario
Back in March, Abarth unveiled the 595 esseesse and 124 Rally Tribute to help commemorate the brand’s seventieth birthday. Clearly such a momentous occasion deserves another limited edition, because the 695 70th Anniversario has just been announced.
This new arrival’s stand-out feature is a ‘Spoiler ad Assetto Variabile’. It’s essentially a manually-adjustable tailgate spoiler that can be set to twelve positions between 0° and 60°. At the steepest angle, 42 kg (92 lbs) of downforce is generated when travelling at 124 mph (200 km/h), so the device isn’t merely a gimmick.
There’s a choice of Scorpione Black, Podium Blue, Monza 1958 Green, Circuit Grey or Gara White paintwork. All are complemented by a Campovolo Grey finish for various elements including the body kit, door mirror caps and decals.
17” SuperSport alloy wheels, red Brembo brake calipers, a limited-slip differential, a Record Monza exhaust and Sabelt Tricolore front seats also appear on the standard equipment list. Power is provided by the 695’s usual 1.4 litre turbocharged engine which produces 177 bhp (132 kW / 180 PS) plus 250 Nm (184 lb/ft) of peak torque.
In recognition of the year that Abarth was founded, only 1,949 examples of the 695 70th Anniversario are being produced. The exact UK allocation is unknown, but prices start from £29,695. Dealers will begin accepting orders later this month.
