2020 Škoda Octavia Scout unveiled

Some drivers need a modicum of off-road capability, but they don’t want the bulk of an SUV. For them, ‘lifestyle’ estate cars like the new Octavia Scout provide a perfect solution.

Compared to the regular models, the Scout gains 15 mm (0.6”) more ground clearance, unique bumpers and black protective body cladding. Completing the look are 18” ‘Braga’ alloy wheels (or optional 19” ‘Manaslu’ rims) plus a silver finish for the roof rails, window frames and door mirror caps.

Perhaps recognising that many examples of the Scout actually never venture outside of urban areas, front-wheel drive will be offered in conjunction with certain TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines. The broad powertrain line-up comprises:
  • 148 bhp (110 kW / 150 PS) 1.5 litre TSI with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive
  • 148 bhp (110 kW / 150 PS) 1.5 litre TSI e-TEC mild hybrid with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive
  • 187 bhp (140 kW / 190 PS) 2.0 litre TSI with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive
  • 113 bhp (85 kW / 115 PS) 2.0 litre TDI with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive
  • 148 bhp (110 kW / 150 PS) 2.0 litre TDI with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive
  • 197 bhp (147 kW / 200 PS) 2.0 litre TDI with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive
Škoda has yet to confirm whether or not the latest Octavia Scout is going to be available in the UK. Unfortunately, at the moment it seems unlikely.
