2023 Genesis G90 interior revealed
Earlier this month, Genesis released some exterior images of the all-new G90 full-size luxury saloon. Now attention has turned to its interior.
As well as slim air vents, the elegant dashboard design features a ‘connected car Integrated Cockpit’ that combines the instrument cluster and infotainment screen in a panoramic display. A high centre console houses a Fingerprint Authentication System (for keyless starting and driving), a rotary Central Control Panel, and the shift-by-wire gear selector dial.
‘Ergo-relaxing’ leather-covered seats each incorporate ten air cells in their backrests and two in their base cushions, to provide variable support and four massage cycles. When people are entering or leaving the car, the side bolsters temporarily deflate to make things easier.
Occupants in the rear are treated to several extra luxuries, especially in the long-wheelbase version. For instance, the ‘VIP seat’ located on the right-hand side has leg supports and a foot rest. In addition to 10.2” infotainment touchscreens mounted on the backs of both front seats, a separate 8” touchscreen on the central armrest controls the curtains, climate and recline positions.
Five interior colour schemes are going to be available, namely Obsidian Black monotone, Dune Beige / Velvet Burgundy two-tone, Bordeaux Brown / Obsidian Black two-tone, Modern Gray / Galaxy Black two-tone, and Glacier White / Urban Brown two-tone.
Newspaper Crown Wood or Newspaper Stripe Wood – made from processed waste paper – is used for embellishment, along with metal inlays inspired by the Korean ‘sanggam’ technique.
A lot of effort has gone into creating a pleasant ambience. Two separate sun roofs let in plenty of light, while laminated glass and the ANC-R active noise cancelling system help to keep the cabin quiet.
Furthermore, a four-mode Mood Curator co-ordinates various functions such as the fragrance system (there’s a choice of ‘My Favorite Place’, ‘The Driver’s Awakening’ and ‘The Great Outdoors’ scents), cabin lighting, and massage settings.
One component that plays a pivotal role in determining passenger comfort is the G90’s adjustable air suspension. Working with a front-scanning camera and navigation data, it’s able to pre-empt surface changes and imperfections to maintain a smooth ride.
As previously announced by Genesis, the next-generation G90 is unlikely to be offered in Europe.
