2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe launched

As part of Jeep’s electrification strategy, its all-new fifth-generation Grand Cherokee will be offered in Europe with a 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The set-up comprises a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine, plus two electric motors and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Energy is stored in an under-floor 400-volt, 17 kWh battery pack.

Combined output is rated at 380 PS (375 bhp / 280 kW) with 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of peak torque. In the pure-electric driving mode, maximum range is 31 miles (51 kilometres).

Initially, only the range-topping Summit Reserve trim grade is going to be available in the UK, and a dedicated website for pre-orders is due to go live later this month.

LED headlights, 21” polished alloy wheels, Platinum Chrome embellishments and a contrasting black roof finish all help the Summit Reserve to stand out. Inside, a classic mix of leather upholstery and walnut inlays provides the cabin with a suitably luxurious atmosphere.

Technology isn’t lacking, either. For instance, the Uconnect 5 infotainment system works in conjunction with a 10” digital instrument cluster, a 10” head-up display, a 10” central touchscreen, and a dedicated 10.25” panel for the front-seat passenger. A digital rear-view mirror and a night-vision camera are fitted, too.

Jeep has yet to confirm Grand Cherokee 4xe pricing.
