Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition at Wörthersee

Twelve Volkswagen apprentices have built a special Golf for this year’s GTI Treffen which is being held at Reifnitz am Wörthersee in Austria.

Based on a production GTI Performance model, the one-off Wolfsburg Edition features a unique body kit as well as an upgraded 2.0 litre turbocharged engine that produces a substantial 375 bhp (279 kW / 380 PS).

Its colour scheme has been inspired by the original Golf GTI of 1976. On the outside, red paintwork is offset by contrasting black stripes, with those along the doors depicting a silhouette of the Wolfsburg skyline.

The same shades are used for the restyled interior, which also incorporates suitably retro touches such as a golf ball gear knob and some tartan trim.

Further bespoke parts include the modified centre console that houses an iPhone docking station and a bank of three additional gauges in place of the usual central air vents. Also fitted is a 2,170 W audio system, eleven speakers, a 24” television and a PlayStation.
