2015 CLS Coupé and Shooting Brake revealed
This September will see the arrival of an updated Mercedes-Benz CLS.
Still offered in four-door Coupé and five-door Shooting Brake guises, the front end has received a mild facelift. As part of the refresh there’s a subtly redesigned grille and Multibeam LED headlights are going to be available for the first time.
The most obvious interior difference is the appearance of an 8” screen atop the centre console. Although described by Mercedes-Benz as ‘free-standing’, it does unfortunately resemble a cheapo generic tablet that has been stuck to the dashboard.
More significant are the engine changes. For the UK the line-up now comprises four powertrain options, including a new 3.5 litre petrol motor which the CLS 400 uses. Furthermore, the nine-speed 9G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission makes its debut in the diesel-powered models.
Prices start from £46,500 and customer orders can be placed from July onwards.
Actually that’s not the entire 2015 range, as it also includes 4Matic all-wheel drive, CLS 250 BlueTEC, CLS 500 and non-‘S’ AMG versions. However, they won’t be sold in the UK.
