Bentley Grand Convertible concept revealed
There can be no doubt about which rival the Bentley Grand Convertible is targeting. Design elements such as its ornate wooden tonneau cover and contrasting ‘liquid metal’ silver bonnet and windscreen surround clearly mimic the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead CoupĂ©, after all.
On display in concept form at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the large cabriolet is an exercise in opulence. The four-seat cabin requires fourteen hides for its diamond-quilted leather upholstery, for example, while the aforementioned tonneau features the largest piece of veneer ever seen on a Bentley.
If (or more likely, when) the Grand Convertible enters production, a lack of pace is unlikely to be an issue. That’s because power is provided by a 530 bhp (395 kW / 537 PS) 6.75 litre twin-turbo V8 engine borrowed from the Mulsanne Speed saloon.
