Bentley rediscovers style?
Bentley has revealed the Mulsanne Convertible Concept, albeit only in sketch form for now.
A potential flagship model, the firm describes it as ‘the world’s most elegant and sophisticated convertible, providing a supremely powerful and refined luxury grand touring experience for four adults’. Or, in other words, a direct rival for the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé…
But never mind the thinly-veiled digs at the competition because, more importantly, the Mulsanne Convertible is (hopefully) evidence that Bentley has remembered that when it comes to automotive styling, well-considered proportions and neatly-executed details matter.
Both of those elements were sadly missing from the dreadful EXP 9 F sports utility concept, which was probably the ugliest vehicle on display at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Quite rightly, it got a generally hostile reception, and the EXP 9 F remains a strong candidate for being the nadir in the brand’s design history.
