Viper GTS Launch Edition

SRT has revealed the new 2013 Viper GTS Launch Edition. Finished in the now traditional Viper coupé colour scheme of blue with twin full-length white stripes, it also features special polished five-spoke alloy wheels and unique badges. On the inside, there’s a dash plaque that displays the build number, black leather upholstery and an Alcantara headlining. As with the regular 2013 Viper models - which go on sale later this year - power comes from an 8.4 litre V10 engine that develops 640 bhp (477 kW / 648 PS) and a colossal 813 Nm (600 lb/ft) of torque. To help harness the performance potential that those outputs suggest, stability control, anti-lock brakes and traction control are all fitted as standard. Pricing for the Viper GTS Launch Edition has yet to be confirmed. Related posts: 2013 Viper GTS-R on track SRT Viper GTS-R racer

SRT Motorsports has begun track testing its 2013 Viper GTS-R race car. The first run took place at the Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina, with Belgian driver Marc Goossens behind the wheel. Speaking about the inaugural session, Gary Johnson, Road Racing Manager for SRT Motorsports, said: “From our standpoint it was a pretty historic day. It was pretty exciting for everybody to see a new Viper GTS-R roll out and go on the track for the first time. “We have several on-track tests planned before we will show up at our first race event. This first test was more like systems development to make sure the car shifts right, make sure the car cools right, make sure the suspension goes through all its motions and does what it’s supposed to, and make sure the brakes feel balanced. It was almost like design verification. “Our next stage is really developing the car in two areas. One is a performance development and the second area would be the durability of the car. Th...

A mid-season race debut is scheduled for sometime during the summer, with Dominik Farnbacher (Germany), Marc Goossens (Belgium), Ryan Hunter-Reay (United States) and Kuno Wittmer (Canada) sharing the driving duties. Commenting on campaign, Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of Chrysler’s Street and Racing Technology brand, said: “Racing has been a significant part of the illustrious history of Viper not only with wins on the track, but also in the continued development of the street cars - and our new 2013 SRT Viper models are proof of those le...
