Following a merger of the FIA World Touring Car Championship and the TCR International Series, 2018 will see the inaugural staging of the FIA World Touring Car Cup. This promising series, which has adopted TCR technical regulations, is intended to attract more manufacturers to top-flight saloon car racing.

Volkswagen Motorsport has unveiled a slightly revised Golf GTI TCR. The only significant change is at the front, where a redesigned nose is intended to provide a closer visual link between the race car and its road-going equivalent.

Following its first year of competition, Volkswagen Motorsport has tweaked the Golf GTI TCR for the upcoming season.

Opel's all-new Astra TCR will be eligible to compete in several national and international championships. Developed in collaboration with Kissling Motorsport, deliveries to selected privateer racing teams are scheduled to begin in time for the start of next season.

Next season should see the all-new Astra competing on circuits around the world, as Opel has already begun developing it for touring car racing. The competition version, which will be aimed primarily at customer teams, is going to comply with current TCR regulations.
