If the new Victory Empulse TT looks familiar, that's because it's essentially a slightly modified Brammo Empulse R . Victory might be better known for building cruisers and tourers, but this move into electric motorcycles is simply explained: parent company Polaris bought Brammo in January 2015.

Electric motorcycle manufacturer Brammo has announced that its new Empulse and Empulse R will cost $16,995 and $18,995 respectively in the United States. The Empulse is unique among electric bikes in that both a 100 mph (160 km/h) top speed and a 100 mile range are possible. However, those two parameters are mutually exclusive as, according to the official ‘Highway’ measure, the maximum that can be ridden between recharges is 56 miles (90 kilometres). At slower speeds around town that distance has the potential to more than double, though, as the ‘City’ figure is 121 miles (195 kilometres). Powering the Empulse is a 9.31 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that drives a water-cooled 54 bhp (40 kW / 54 PS) motor. Recharge time is around eight hours, but that drops to 3.5 hours when a fast-charger is used. A regenerative braking system also helps to keep the battery topped up while riding. Electric motorcycle manufacturer Brammo has commenced production in Hungary. The facility, located in Sàrvàr, is operated by Flextronics, a Singapore-based electronics manufacturing services company. Production capacity is 660 bikes per month, and will focus on the Enertia and Enertia Plus models for distribution in European, Asian and North American markets. Brian Wismann, Director of Product Development at Brammo, said: “This partnership [with Flextronics] gives Brammo the ability to scale production and access global markets and the benefit of strengthening its reputation as the builder of the world’s finest electric motorcycles.” With currently only a handful of dealers in the United States, the next big objective for the company will have to be the establishment of networks in other territories to sell its motorcycles. American electric motorcycle manufacturer Brammo is set to add four new models to its line-up. All are off-road style bikes that’ll complement the existing Enertia and Empulse: · Engage MX - a dirt bike with an anticipated price of US$9,995 excluding taxes or incentives. · Engage SMR - that suffix stands for Super Moto Racing, and it’ll cost the same as the MX. · Engage SMS - another supermoto, except this one’s designed for street use with a price tag of US$11,995. · Encite MMX PRO - a mini dirt bike, for which pricing is still to be confirmed. Brammo has launched a new version of its Enertia electric motorcycle. Called Enertia Plus, it has double the range - up to 80 miles (128 kilometres) - compared to the standard model. That extra mileage comes courtesy of  a new 6.0 kWh battery pack, although the one downside is that the recharging time of eight hours is now twice as long as before. The 13 kW / 40 Nm motor, which gives a top speed of around 60 mph (100 km/h), remains unchanged. Available in True Blood Red, Eclipsed Black, Aluminium Silver and Peacekeeping Blue (think United Nations), the Brammo Enertia Plus is priced at $8,995 in the US. That’s around £5,740 / €6,470 at today’s exchange rates. But that’s not quite the whole story, as American buyers may also be eligible for Federal and State tax credit incentives.
