Fiat builds a Ducato 4x4 camper van concept
Fiat has unveiled its rugged-looking Ducato 4x4 Expedition Camper Show Van.
Based on a long-wheelbase, high-roof Ducato with an extended rear overhang, the Expedition Camper should be fairly capable off-road thanks to a four-wheel drive system from Dangel, a raised ride height and some all-terrain tyres. Also fitted are a winch, a front skid-plate and a roof-mounted platform.
The interior, which has been designed by Tecnoform, is intended to be relaxing yet high-tech. Swivelling cab seats help to create a lounge area at the front, while the rear portion accommodates a folding double bed. As well as a side-mounted kitchen unit, the specification also includes two retractable flat-screen televisions and a built-in entertainment system.
Unfortunately, the Ducato 4x4 Expedition Camper isn't destined to become a production model. However, it will be exhibited at upcoming camping and caravanning shows in Düsseldorf, Parma, Le Bourget and Birmingham. At those events, the vehicle is going to be used as a catalyst to gauge customer opinions about Fiat's motorhome activities.
