Eliminating the need for rear forward-facing travel seats has given the designers freedom to try something different. Their solution is a double bed measuring 2.00 m (6’ 6”) long, which transforms into a sideways-facing sofa during the day. The folding mechanism cleverly accommodates the made-up bedding, too.

Perhaps the most unusual element is the bathroom. Placed across the rear of the vehicle, it benefits from separate shower and lavatory cubicles. Both can be occupied at the same time and, for added convenience, they can be accessed from either inside or outside.

DuoCar is currently being displayed in prototype form at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon. Hymer intends to use feedback from show visitors to help finalise a production version.
