2021 i20 teaser images released by Hyundai

Hyundai’s next-generation i20 supermini is going to introduce the brand’s new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language.

Apparently, it strives to achieve “harmony between four fundamental elements: proportion, architecture, styling and technology”. Such an ethos is admirable but, arguably, rather banal – surely that’s what all product creators should be aiming for anyway?

Judging by the teaser sketches, the result combines a low and wide stance with distinctive surfacing along the sides. While no views of the interior have been provided yet, one highlight is a ‘glass cockpit’ arrangement comprising a pair of 10.25” displays for the instruments and infotainment system.

Of course, ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ can only be properly assessed once the actual cars are revealed. In the case of the 2021 i20, that will be happening at the Geneva International Motor Show in a few weeks’ time.
