Mercedes-Benz Metris Weekender unveiled

Mercedes-Benz has launched the Weekender, a pop-top camper van for the United States market. This officially-sanctioned conversion – which is based on the Metris – is carried out by Driverge Vehicle Innovations in collaboration with Peace Vans.

As well as an elevating roof, the standard specification includes rotating front seats, curtains and a dedicated leisure battery. Two people can sleep ‘upstairs’, while the sliding rear bench transforms into another double bed. However, the absence of any furniture units means that there are no built-in cooking, washing or storage facilities.

Anybody wanting more amenities will have to become familiar with the extensive options list. Among the available items are a pull-out rear kitchenette, a side-mounted awning, insect screens, solar panels, a tailgate tent and various roof racks.

Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
