Vivaro-e Life electric people-mover unveiled
Vauxhall has introduced the pure-electric Vivaro-e Life, which can carry up to nine people across three rows of seats.
This new addition to the range shares its zero-emissions powertrain with the recently-launched Vivaro-e panel van. Therefore, the front wheels are driven by an electric motor that outputs 134 bhp (100 kW / 136 PS) plus 260 Nm (191 lb/ft) of peak torque.
Whereas other Vivaro-e models can have either 50 kWh or 75 kWh lithium-ion battery packs, only the smaller option will be available for the Life version. Arguably, such a policy could hinder sales, as WLTP range is consequently just 143 miles (230 kilometres).
A single-phase 7.4 kW on-board charger is standard, while a three-phase 11.0 kW upgrade costs extra. Public DC facilities are definitely the quickest way to replenish the batteries, though. Indeed, because the Vivaro-e can accept up to 100 kW, recharging from flat to 80 percent capacity using this method takes half an hour.
Vauxhall is going to offer the Vivaro-e Life in a choice of Medium (4.96 m / 16’ 3”) or Large (5.30 m / 17’ 5”) body lengths. Prices are due to be announced later this summer.
