Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept unveiled
Jeep’s latest creation could be a strong hint that the Wrangler is about to get an eight-cylinder engine option. Called the Rubicon 392 Concept, it features a 392 cubic-inch (6.4 litre) V8 and numerous chassis modifications.
450 bhp (335 kW / 456 PS) plus 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque are delivered to a full-time four-wheel drive system via a specially strengthened eight-speed automatic transmission and a Selec-Track two-speed transfer case. Performance is certainly impressive, as evidenced by a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of less than five seconds.
However, this unique vehicle has been designed primarily for extreme off-road driving.
Therefore, upgrades include a 2” (5.0 cm) lift kit from Jeep Performance Parts, Fox monotube dampers, Dana 44 axles, and 17” beadlock wheels shod with 37” mud-terrain tyres. Extra protection is provided by tougher steel bumpers, a steel belly pan and a pair of rock rails.
As a result, there’s 13.25” (33.6 cm) of ground clearance and the maximum wading depth is 34” (86.3 cm). Approach, break-over and departure angles are 51.6, 29.5 and 40.1 degrees respectively.
Finished in Granite Crystal paintwork with Red Rock leather upholstery, the Rubicon 392 Concept also has half doors, removable side panels and a powered sliding fabric roof.
