Clubsport 45 celebrates the Golf GTI’s birthday
This summer marks 45 years since Volkswagen introduced the original Golf GTI. The new GTI Clubsport 45 limited edition has been created to commemorate that upcoming anniversary.
Being based on the Clubsport variant, the 2.0 litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine produces 300 PS (295 bhp / 221 kW) instead of the usual 245 PS (241 bhp / 180 kW). The standard equipment list also includes a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and an electromechanical front-axle locking differential.
In addition, the GTI Clubsport 45 features gloss black 19” Scottsdale alloy wheels (with red pinstripes) and some subtle ‘45’ body graphics. The roof panel and tailgate spoiler gain a black finish, too.
Volkswagen hasn’t confirmed a UK price yet, but it’s expected to be less than £40,000.
