2021 Ford Focus ST Edition arrives in Europe

Ford’s new Focus ST Edition should be easy to spot, thanks to unique Azura Blue paintwork which is combined with a special black finish for the front grille, door mirror caps, roof panel, tailgate spoiler and rear diffuser.

It also gains lighter 19” alloy wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. Their ‘flow form’ manufacturing process reduces unsprung weight by ten percent, thereby benefiting grip and responsiveness.

Undoubtedly, the ST Edition’s most notable upgrade is a highly-adjustable coilover suspension set-up produced by KW Automotive.

This features blue powder-coated springs that are fifty percent stiffer than on a regular ST. Furthermore, they lower the ride height by 10 mm (0.4”), and a further 20 mm (0.8”) of movement is possible.

The dampers are twin-tube items with stainless steel housings. Twelve jounce (bump) and sixteen rebound settings certainly give the driver plenty of choice.

Indeed, so many parameters could result in inexperienced or incompetent owners spoiling the car’s handling. Clearly, such an outcome has been anticipated, because Ford is providing a list of recommended suspension combinations for various road conditions.

The sole available engine is an unchanged 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol unit. 280 PS (276 bhp / 206 kW) plus 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of peak torque is delivered via a six-speed manual gearbox, resulting in a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 5.7 seconds. Top speed is 155 mph (250 km/h).

The 2021 Focus ST Edition is being offered in five-door hatchback guise only. UK prices start at £35,785.
