Fiesta ST Edition launched in Europe

Evidently, Ford couldn’t be bothered to concoct a fancy name for the new Fiesta ST limited edition, because it’s simply called the Fiesta ST Edition. The target audience is likely to be only interested in the car’s enhanced specification, though.

In particular, track day enthusiasts who know about chassis behaviour should appreciate the addition of an adjustable coilover suspension set-up. This allows the ride height to be altered, plus the dampers – which feature twin-tube stainless steel housings – have twelve bump and sixteen rebound settings.

Furthermore, the brake discs have been upgraded, while the steering benefits from recalibrated power assistance and a bespoke knuckle design.

One thing that remains unchanged is the 1.5 litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine. However, performance certainly isn’t lacking. Indeed, thanks to 197 bhp (147 kW / 200 PS) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of peak torque, the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint takes 6.5 seconds. Top speed is 143 mph (230 km/h).

Solely available in three-door form, every ST Edition will come with exclusive Azura Blue paintwork and lightweight ‘flow-formed’ ten-spoke 18” alloy wheels. The distinctive exterior look is completed by a gloss black finish for several components including the front grille, door mirror caps, roof panel, tailgate spoiler and rear diffuser.

Production for the whole of Europe is being restricted to 500 units. 300 of those have already been allocated to the UK, where the ST Edition costs £27,075.

By comparison, on-the-road prices for the regular Fiesta ST-2 and ST-3 variants start at £22,275 and £24,900 respectively.
