2021 Ford GT Heritage Edition unveiled

Ford’s 2021 GT Heritage Edition represents a break with tradition. Every previous version has commemorated one of the GT40’s achievements at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the latest honours a race victory that pre-dates those exploits in France.

The win in question happened in February 1966, when Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby dominated the Daytona 24 Hour Continental with their GT40 Mark II. What’s more, identical cars finished second, third and fifth as well. Such a strong performance was a crucial milestone for the GT40 project, because it demonstrated that Ford could beat the likes of Ferrari in major endurance events.

A combination of Frozen White paintwork, exposed carbon fibre and asymmetrical Race Red graphics on the new GT Heritage Edition replicates the 1966 livery. Heritage Gold 20” forged aluminium wheels plus red lacquered Brembo brake calipers add to the unique look, too.

Inside, red Alcantara covers the seats, while black Alcantara is used for the headlining and steering wheel. Red anodised paddle shifters provide a finishing touch.

Ford has yet to confirm a price.
