The diminutive Honda Dax returns to Europe
After a gap of 41 years, the Honda Dax minibike is once again available in Europe.
Built around a pressed steel frame, the new ST125 model features black 12” five-spoke cast wheels, balloon tyres, an upside-down front fork, anti-lock disc brakes, an LCD instrument display, and all-LED lights. Customers will have a choice of either Pearl Cadet Grey or Pearl Nebula Red colour schemes.
Thanks to its compact dimensions, the Dax has a kerb weight of just 107 kg (235 lb). Seat height meanwhile is a very accommodating 775 mm (30.5”).
Power comes from an air-cooled and fuel-injected 124 cc single-cylinder engine, which is mated to a four-speed gearbox with an automatic centrifugal clutch. Peak output and torque are rated at 9.3 PS (9.2 bhp / 6.9 kW) and 10.8 Nm (7.9 lb-ft) respectively.
Honda reckons that those figures should be sufficient for two-up cruising at 55 mph (90 km/h). Furthermore, impressive fuel economy – 179.9 mpg (1.6 l/100km / 63.7 km/l) according to the WMTC measure – results in a theoretical tank range of approximately 150 miles (240 kilometres).
UK prices for the 2023 ST125 Dax have yet to be announced.
