A new Volkswagen Caddy camper is coming

Volkswagen is preparing to launch a factory-built camper version of its all-new Caddy.

As can be seen from the preview images, the van’s interior is dominated by a removable bed which measures almost two metres long (around 6’ 6”) and features comfortable disc springs. While amenities are likely to be very basic, there’s space to keep a folding table and chairs. Two detachable storage bags also serve as screens for the rearmost side windows.

Although the roof doesn’t benefit from an elevating section, an available panoramic glass panel lets in plenty of light from above. Extra accommodation space can be provided by a substantial drive-away awning that attaches to the rear of the vehicle.

The engine line-up is set to include several TDI turbocharged diesel units with outputs between 74 bhp (55 kW / 75 PS) and 120 bhp (90 kW / 122 PS). If they don’t appeal, then a single 112 bhp (84 kW / 114 PS) TSI turbocharged petrol option will be offered too.
