Kia creates a light defence vehicle concept
A new Kia Light Tactical Vehicle (KLTV) has been unveiled at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX), which is currently taking place in the UAE. Two versions of this military concept are on display there.
The Bare Chassis shows off the KLTV modular platform that features a 225 PS (221 bhp / 165 kW) diesel engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, a limited-slip differential, run-flat tyres and independent suspension. Both standard- and long-wheelbase configurations have been developed.
It’s joined by a Cargo Truck. Intended to demonstrate how the Bare Chassis looks with bodywork fitted, this LWB model combines an unarmoured, air-conditioned, four-door, four-seat cab with rear cargo space.
According to Kia, numerous KLTV variants can be produced to suit different purposes. They include command, communications, reconnaissance, resupply and maintenance support. Extra protective armour is possible, too.
