Abarth builds a one-off 1000 SP
In 1966, Abarth created a lightweight racing car called the 1000 Sport Prototipo. Now, it has been reimagined for the 21st century.
Designed by Centro Stile Fiat and Abarth, the new 1000 SP concept evokes the original model while managing to be more aerodynamic. Beneath the bodywork there’s a carbon fibre central tub which is mated to an aluminium front end.
Like the Alfa Romeo 4C, the 1000 SP features a mid-mounted, 1742 cc, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 240 PS (237 bhp / 176 kW). However, Abarth hasn’t released any performance data yet.
Whether or not a production version will follow remains to be seen.
