Bike of the Year 2011-2012
The results of the International Bike of the Year 2011-2012 award followed a similar pattern to last year’s verdict: a BMW won, beating a Ducati into second place.
This time around it was the turn of the K 1600 GT to take top spot, with the jurors (representing 25 motorcycle publications from around the globe) being particularly impressed by its six-cylinder engine, handling and technology.
Furthermore, the GTL version - which is essentially the same bike apart from some extra equipment - earned enough votes on its own to secure fourth spot, while the out-going title holder, the BMW S 1000 RR, was joint fifth.
