MG5 hatchback revealed

The first images of the MG5 have been released.

Looking very similar to the Concept 5 that appeared at last year’s Shanghai Motor Show, the compact hatchback will be a rival for cars such as the Vauxhall / Opel Astra, Ford Focus and Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

It’ll be launched in its home market of China first, with power coming from a 1.8 litre petrol engine. European sales aren’t expected for a while though, and the version that’ll be offered here is expected to have recalibrated suspension settings, different equipment levels and a wider range of engines that should include a diesel option.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo supermini is now available with the innovative two-cylinder TwinAir petrol engine. Although its capacity is only 875 cc, a turbocharger and the MultiAir electro-hydraulic valve control system mean it produces a respectable 83 bhp (62 kW / 85 PS) and 145 Nm (103 lb/ft) of torque. Moto Guzzi V7 Record kit

Inspired by the 1969 V7 Record that set several speed records for Moto Guzzi, the new Record kit has been designed to give current-generation V7 models a retro endurance racer look. Included is a lightweight fibreglass front fairing (which handily uses the existing headlight), plus a replacement single seat unit that features memory foam. The kit can be fitted to the V7 Café and V7 Racer without any modifications. It’s also suitable for the V7 Classic, V7 Special and V7 Stone, but a set of Moto Guzzi clip-on handlebars will be needed as well for those variants. 2012 Civic NGTC livery

Honda Racing’s all-new Civic NGTC race cars were first seen at a Brands Hatch test session last month. Then they were painted plain white, but now the colour scheme that will be worn in this year’s British Touring Car Championship has been revealed. As expected, the design is predominantly white with red and black stripes. A deal with Yuasa has also been confirmed, which will see the battery manufacturer becoming the renamed Honda Yuasa Racing Team’s title sponsor for the next three years. Commenting on the association, Andrew Taylor, Managing Director of Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Ltd, said: “Our 2011 sponsorship of Honda Racing proved a resounding success and was extremely beneficial in raising the profile of the Yuasa brand. “Yuasa’s partnership with Honda is very strong and the new title sponsorship provides us with the perfect springboard for our ambitious UK and European automotive aftermarket plans over the next three years. “We are very pleased to add Yuasa’s name
