Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the new Ertiga seven-seat MPV. Based on the Swift, it has been developed primarily for the Indian market, but sales are also planned in other South East Asian territories.

According to Mr S. Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, “Many urban families in India are now looking for a vehicle that offers more space and flexibility than a sedan, without being bulky, bland and expensive like a Utility Vehicle.

“These families are currently having to compromise, and settle for a vehicle which does not meet their lifestyle needs. The Ertiga is designed for these customers. It is another example of our ability to pack power, performance, space and features in a compact package.”

Key to that flexibility is ‘5+2’ seating that’s arranged across three rows. As the two rearmost sets of seats fold down, users can choose between a number of different configurations depending on whether people or cargo need to be carried.

The engine line-up comprises either a 1.3 litre diesel or an updated version of the 1.4 litre K-Series petrol unit. Both come with a five-speed manual transmission.

With three trim levels on offer, that gives six different versions with introductory prices starting from Rs. 5.89 lakh (ex-showroom in Delhi):

· Ertiga LXi - Rs. 5.89 lakh
· Ertiga LDi - Rs. 7.30 lakh
· Ertiga VXi - Rs. 6.60 lakh
· Ertiga VDi - Rs. 7.90 lakh
· Ertiga ZXi - Rs. 7.30 lakh
· Ertiga ZDi - Rs. 8.54 lakh
