Fiat 500 Turbo for America

The new 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo fills a gap in the marque’s North American range between the regular models and the high performance 500 Abarth.

With 135 bhp (100 kW / 136 PS) and 203 Nm (150 lb/ft) of torque from its 1.4 litre MultiAir turbocharged and intercooled engine, plus a sports suspension set-up and upgraded brakes, the new arrival is roughly equivalent to the European-spec Abarth 500.

However, it wears a Fiat badge as Abarth isn’t being marketed as a separate brand in the United States and Canada. Instead, that moniker is used only as a version name - the aforementioned 500 Abarth - which is itself comparable to the recently-announced Abarth 595.

But back to the 500 Turbo…

As well as the technical upgrades, it gains a more imposing front apron as well as deeper side skirts, a tailgate spoiler, black headlight bezels and 16” alloy wheels. Sports seats and unique grey and black fabric upholstery continue the theme inside the cabin.
